“Albert was either the last renaissance man of the Hill Country, or the first hippie.”

— John Graham, co-owner of Luckenbach, Texas

Architect, historic preservationist, and general man-about-town, Albert Keidel left quite an impression on his family and the city of Fredericksburg. He created a style that went beyond aesthetics, imparting a language to the homes and civic buildings of Fredericksburg with a look, touch, feel, and smell embedded in a sense of place.

Albert's Story

Fredericksburg is the best-preserved historic town in the Texas Hill Country. Surrounded by dramatic hills, clear running streams, and winding backroads, Fredericksburg remains the preferred launching point for excursions of the entire area. The region is a geographically diverse, 25-county area featuring tranquil lakes and rivers, canyons, rolling hills, several native vegetation types, and free-roaming wildlife. The area embraces and preserves the rich history of the early settlers and is now the second fastest-growing wine destination in the United States after Napa Valley.

“Our wild places aren’t immune to modern-day problems. But there’s no overestimating how much an addled mind can benefit from spending a little time where the air is fresh and the birds are chirping obliviously and a six-foot span is easy to come by.”
